Akumal, Mexico 2006
Our return to Mexico had been delayed by a year following the terrible hurricane that hit the Yucatan in July 2005. The owner of our bungalow had kindly allowed us to switch our booking to the following year but we were a little nervous about what we might find following the devastation we had seen on the news the previous year.
Our arrival saw Sam walk into the bungalow through the rear door by the parking, walk to the front window and by the time I reached her side with the cases she was sobbing! Oh dear I thought! My worries were ill founded however. The tears were pure joy at the beauty of the view. We were about 15 steps from a beautiful blue bay, surrounded by powder white sand. Half Moon Bay, to the north of Akumal was to be our home for the next two weeks. Undoubtedly it remains somewhere we always will want to return to. Simply amazing ...... |
