**Thought this section was worth an update. I'm now nearing the big 5-0, though not quite there yet. I'm over 20 years in teaching now and still plugging away.
The family have obviously grown, as you might notice in the more recent pictures. Sid is now 17 and Frank is 14, both still have the travel bug and like myself and Sam we've all found the COVID pandemic incredibly frustrating.
We would love some interaction on the page so please send in questions and make comments on the blog posts. Also, if you can, use the ad links down the side as all income from these ads is poured back into our content.
Well this is my opportunity to give you a little more information about myself. I've recently hit the big 40! After 15 years as a Primary School teacher, Advisory Teacher for Behaviour and Deputy Head the one constant in my life has been a love of travel.
Of course things are very different these days! No more backpacking through southern Mexico or Ecuador with Sam (now my wife), jumping on overnight buses, exploring the jungle, hightailing it away from town after the Zapatistas decide to stage a mini rebellion or swimming with piranhas. No these days we have to plan our trips with thoughts of our two rapidly growing boys, Sid (10) and Frank (6). To be honest the activities aren't changing too much - we just like to have a bit more of a plan about where we will be and when, I think that's more for the grand parents peace of mind than anything else.
What drives our travelling? Well for me it's a double edged sword. I love the idea of seeing as much of the world as I can (and can afford), currently it's a feeble 9% according to my trip advisor travel map! But there is a certain thrill in the chase - booking flights for the best price, finding hotels (with family rooms now), organising the travel arrangements. I do love to plan! That's not to say I'm never impulsive, I just like to know where we can go and how we are going to do it. Once I'm there I'm easily led.
Finally, and much to my wife and friends amusement, I have this little quirk. Looking through my earlier travel journals it became very clear..... I'm obsessed with how much things cost! Getting a bargain thrills me, seeing how much cheaper (or expensive) things are on our travels is exciting. Well it is for me anyway!
